Even though I'm a PC guy, I have a strong appreciation for the Mac Pro, having cycled through many of them in the not so distant past. However, Apple recently discontinued the latest model of the tower, this time seemingly for good. I figured now was a fitting time to check one out for myself.

Tim Cook recently announced that he was stepping down as the CEO of Apple, so I figured it would be fitting to take a look at one of the more infamous products that was released under his stewardship: the 12-inch MacBook. This laptop had one goal in mind: to be as thin and compact as humanly possible while still offering a full-fledged macOS experience. Did it actually deliver? Well...

It's been a hell of a past month and things have finally settled down enough with the move for me to catch up on the sizable backlog of posts I've accumulated. So here's one of them. I mentioned in my last post about the 6,1 Mac Pro that I was going to be travelling with it - and I did. I spent two months with the machine trying to get it to do things it was never meant for. It went about as well as you'd expect.

Well I did say I was going to get another Mac Pro and lo and behold - here it is. I can also say with certainty that a fair number of you reading this are rolling your eyes at the mere sight of this thing. This of course, is the infamous Mac Pro 6,1 - widely regarded as one of the worst redesigns that Apple ever released - and I'm going to tear it apart.

Prior to the last crypto rush screwing up the GPU market for people who actually want to, well... y'know; process graphics instead of participating in energy devouring pyramid schemes, I was spent some time upgrading and flipping old Mac Pro towers. Since used GPU prices had mostly returned to normal, I decided to get back into it, but this time with a few new additions - and a lot more pain.

The 1990s were a truly miserable time for regular computers. Everything on the market was just beige. Even Apple: usually known for having an easily recognizable lineup, marketed an army of computers that were all damn near imperceptible from one another. This all went on until Steve Jobs went on a fat trimming spree, reducing the company's confusing array of home desktops to just one stylish option: the iMac. It made waves with it's futuristic and colorful design, making the beige-boxes look like yesterday's leftovers. The machine was such a hit that Apple decided, why don't we make one for the road? Enter the iBook, the world's most refreshingly ridiculous laptop.
